Profile

The majority of infections are transmitted at the mucosal surfaces and initial infection can only be prevented by mucosal immune responses. Our researches mainly focus on the mucosal immunology(Nasal and oral immunization) in domestic animals. The first field is mucosal adjuvants and delivery vehicles to enhance the local immunity. Some suitable mucosal adjuvants are being sought to improve the inactivated virus efficiency of local immunity. Some delivery vehicles(Lactobacillus isolated from chicken and pig, Bacillus subtilis)for antigens for oral immunization had been studied because of degradation of the antigen by gastric acid and proteases in the gastrointestinal tract. The second field focus on the interaction between the epithelium of host and enteric virus. Such as how the virus enter and invade host cell by adhesioncell internalizationcytoskeleton disruptioninterference of signaling pathways in their hosts. The transmission route mechanisms of enteric virus(such as porcine epidemic diarrhea virus) within pig are also studied.
